Our National Diploma in Guidance and Counselling (NDGC) is designed to develop competent, ethical, and spiritually grounded counsellors who are prepared to address the psychological, social, and emotional needs of people across various settings.

About the Course

This two-year diploma program provides in-depth training in the theories and practices of guidance and counselling. It is ideal for individuals who are passionate about helping others, and for professionals in education, ministry, health, social work, or community development who want to strengthen their capacity to counsel and support individuals in need.

The program combines academic learning with practical fieldwork, enabling students to apply counselling techniques in real-world situations, grounded in Christian values and ethical standards.

Graduates are qualified to work as professional counsellors in schools, religious institutions, health centers, NGOs, community organizations, and correctional services—or pursue further studies at the bachelor’s degree level in counselling, psychology, or social work.


Minimum Academic Requirements for Intake

To be eligible for admission into the National Diploma in Guidance and Counselling, applicants must meet one of the following minimum requirements:

  • Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) with at least one principal pass and two subsidiary passes in relevant subjects.

  • A National Certificate in Guidance and Counselling or a related field from a recognized institution.

  • An equivalent qualification as recognized by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE).

  • Mature Age Entry: Applicants aged 25 and above who pass the mature age entry exams are also eligible.
