Overview
The Diploma in Nursing Direct at Uganda Christian Institute is designed to equip students with the essential knowledge, skills, and professional attitude required to become competent and compassionate nurses. This program emphasizes practical training alongside theoretical learning, preparing graduates to deliver high-quality nursing care in diverse healthcare settings both locally and internationally.
Through a blend of classroom instruction, clinical placements, and community health exposure, students will gain expertise in patient care, health promotion, disease prevention, and ethical nursing practices. Upon successful completion, graduates will be eligible for registration with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC) and ready to serve in hospitals, clinics, and community health centers.
Program Duration
The Diploma in Nursing Direct program typically runs for three (3) years, combining rigorous academic coursework and practical training.
Minimum Academic Requirements for Intake
To qualify for admission into the Diploma in Nursing Direct program, applicants must meet the following minimum academic criteria:

Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE):

Must have obtained a minimum of Principal Pass in two (2) subjects including Biology or Agriculture (Biological Sciences preferred).

A pass in English Language is mandatory.

Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE):

At least five (5) credits including English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

Applicants with equivalent qualifications from recognized institutions may also be considered.
Additional Requirements

A clean medical certificate demonstrating fitness for nursing practice.

Demonstrated good moral character.

Successful candidates may be required to undergo an entrance interview.
